The Washington State Legislature asked the Academy to conduct a study to determine the value of distributed solar and storage in Washington state in order to create recommendations and options for a methodology or methodologies that utility regulators and governing bodies may use after the statutory four percent net metering threshold is met.

The Washington State Department of Commerce asked the Academy to help them better understand how they might increase Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) participation in research that informs that cannabis industry.

The Academy is collaborating with the William D. Ruckelshaus Center to support researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and others in addressing the impacts of Covid-19 on Washington’s children and applying lessons learned to future emergencies.

The Academy is convening a roundtable discussion with scientists from academia, industry and state agencies to explore the key scientific issues related to 6PPD-quinone, a chemical commonly used in motor vehicle tires to prevent them from quickly degrading.

The Academy received a grant from the National Conference of State Legislatures to support the planning of a science policy fellowship program in Washington State.

The Academy conducts an annual review of nominations to the Puget Sound Partnership (PSP) Science Panel, followed by submission of recommendations to PSP’s Leadership Council.
