Our 2020 Annual Fundraising Appeal has begun

Your donation – of any amount – will help us to assist the state to address new challenges, like COVID-19, and thus fulfill our mission. To that end, the Board has established an $8,500 match for Member donations during this Annual Appeal. We realize that there are many other requests for financial aid in these challenging times. We also know that our organization is uniquely positioned to mobilize your expertise and talents to help Washington State come out of this crisis better equipped to prepare for the future.

Progress toward Board match

MEMBERS: Please do not pay dues through this link. Login to your Member Portal to pay dues (top right corner of this site).

Please let us know, in the notes, if you’d like your donation to remain anonymous.

Give by Mail. Send a check, made payable to WSAS, to our offices at:

Washington State Academy of Sciences | 901 5th Avenue, Suite 2900 | Seattle, WA 98164

WSAS’s funding comes from three sources: core state fundingproject funding, and donations.

Core funding from the state supports staff salaries and benefits. This amount was cut 10% in the current fiscal year.

Project funding supports the direct costs of contracted projects including staff salaries and benefits, travel, writing and consulting services, event space rental, and student research support.

Donations allow WSAS to:

  • NEW: Mobilize COVID-19 response
  • Explore new S&T topics of importance to WA State
  • Interact with policy makers in Olympia and around the state to raise the visibility and increase the impact of WSAS
  • Support outstanding high-school students to participate in the AAAS-AJAS meeting each year as delegates from Washington State (read more about AJAS here)
  • Hire project-specific professional expertise
  • Provide paid opportunities for student interns
  • Support professional development for our staff

Your gift is tax-deductible – WSAS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization – and allows us to remain independent and respond quickly and efficiently to state requests.

Our federal tax identification number is: 68-0668369
