This report provides a review of existing evidence about pinniped and salmonid populations in the Salish Sea, pinniped predation on salmonids, and the impacts of pinniped predation on salmon recovery.

Proceedings of the 15th Annual Symposium of the Washington State Academy of Sciences

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) requested that the Washington State Academy of Sciences (WSAS) inform its work on the development of a net ecological gain (NEG) standard for public projects as part of the response to a proviso contained within Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5092 (2021).

In November 2021, the Washington State Academy of Sciences (WSAS) hosted the third in a series of dialogue events on how COVID-19 is affecting local communities. This virtual event focused on the relationship between growth and health in the context of ongoing development in the greater Spokane region.

In October 2021, the Washington State Academy of Sciences hosted the second in a series of dialogue events on COVID-19 response and recovery. This virtual event focused on housing concerns facing coastal counties, especially Clallam, Jefferson, San Juan, and Island counties.
