Proceedings of the 15th Annual Symposium of the Washington State Academy of Sciences

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) requested that the Washington State Academy of Sciences (WSAS) inform its work on the development of a net ecological gain (NEG) standard for public projects as part of the response to a proviso contained within Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5092 (2021).

In November 2021, the Washington State Academy of Sciences (WSAS) hosted the third in a series of dialogue events on how COVID-19 is affecting local communities. This virtual event focused on the relationship between growth and health in the context of ongoing development in the greater Spokane region.

In October 2021, the Washington State Academy of Sciences hosted the second in a series of dialogue events on COVID-19 response and recovery. This virtual event focused on housing concerns facing coastal counties, especially Clallam, Jefferson, San Juan, and Island counties.

In a public event on December 8, 2020, the Washington State Academy of Sciences (WSAS) and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) co-hosted a dialogue in which scientists and business leaders from the Tri-Cities community came together to discuss the question, “What is the role of COVID-19 testing in helping businesses operate during the pandemic?”
