
It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of member Ann Nelson. Dr. Nelson was inducted to WSAS in 2012; the same year she was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Nelson was a Professor of Physics at the University of Washington and is remembered by her department here. She is survived by her husband, David Kaplan, who is also a WSAS member.

That was a theme at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Washington State Academy of Sciences, held Tuesday evening at Seattle’s Museum of Flight.
