WSAS has convened a Steering Committee to help guide the Academy's response to the pandemic and provide input to the state where requested.

The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife engaged WSAS to impanel a group of experts to review updates to their document "A review of hatchery reform science in Washington State."

It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of member Ann Nelson. Dr. Nelson was inducted to WSAS in 2012; the same year she was elected to the National Academy of Sciences.

WSAS is pleased to announce announce two new Officers and five new Board Members who were elected by the WSAS Membership in June 2019. The newly elected Officers and Board Members will begin their terms after the Members’ Meeting on September 12, 2019.

New members will be inducted into WSAS following the 12th Annual Symposium and Members' Meeting at the Museum of Flight in Seattle on September 12, 2019.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is the world's largest general scientific society.

The four winners were selected from a group of eleven exceptional students across the state who were invited to apply for the award based on their performance in the 2017-18 state science fairs.

WSAS Board member David Eaton served as the Chair of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s recent report on “Public Health Consequences of E-Cigarettes”, published earlier this year.  In the report Eaton and a committee of 12 other experts critically evaluated over 800 peer-reviewed papers that addressed one or more of the often-controversial aspects of e-cigarettes.
