Subject: AAAS elects six new Fellows from Washington State

The Washington State Academy of Sciences is pleased to share the news of the election of one of its members as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society. Monica Kirkpatrick Johnson (WSU, Department of Sociology) was chosen by the AAAS Council for her notable work advancing science.

Of the 396 AAAS members elected as Fellows in November 2018, an additional five are from Washington State: Terrance Kavanagh (UW, Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences), Kathryn Elaine Meier (UW, School of Pharmacy), Glenn Prestwich (WSU, Health Sciences), Jay Shendure (UW, Genome Sciences), and and Malin M. Young (PNNL, Deputy Director of Science and Technology).
